Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, SC, seeks an instructor to teach world history and/or American history to students across programs. A Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate hours in history are required.

Responsibilities include delivering hands-on and theoretical instruction, managing the classroom, and preparing syllabi and lesson plans. Strong emphasis on assessing progress and maintaining records, with collaboration to support student success.

Job description

Job Purpose:

Teach world history &/or American history courses to students in all academic programs at the Technical College of the Lowcountry.

Job Duties:
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
  • Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Instructional Development
  • Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
  • Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
  • Prepare reports in cooperation with the Division Dean for input in planning/reporting system and/or for submission to the accrediting body of the college or programs
Professional Development
  • Attend relevant professional meetings.
  • Represent the college positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
