Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks an instructor to teach world history and/or American history to students across programs. Responsibilities include hands-on and theoretical instruction, class management, and related admin tasks such as reports and syllabus development.

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in history, and provide official transcripts; online learning management systems experience is highly recommended.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 18 graduate hours in history required.
• Unofficial transcripts required when applying; official transcripts preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Internet and adaptability to online Learning Management Systems recommended.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction combining hands-on and theoretical content with classroom management and associated admin tasks (reports, syllabus, lesson plans).
• Regularly assess student learning and progress.
• Maintain records of attendance, grades, and progress.
• Recommend instructional materials for courses and obtain approval.
• Collaborate with Tutoring, Retention and other college areas to promote student success.
• Prepare reports for planning, reporting, and accreditation submissions.
• Attend relevant professional meetings and represent the college positively in communities and academic groups.

Job description

Job Purpose:

Teach world history &/or American history courses to students in all academic programs at the Technical College of the Lowcountry.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
• Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
• Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.

Instructional Development

• Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
• Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
• Prepare reports in cooperation with the Division Dean for input in planning/reporting system and/or for submission to the accrediting body of the college or programs

Professional Development

• Attend relevant professional meetings.
• Represent the college positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a related field AND a minimum of 18 graduate hours in history is required.

Unofficial transcripts are required when applying.

Working knowledge of internet & adaptability to online Learning Management Systems highly recommended.
