Job summary

Serco Inc. is hiring Shipyard Laborers to support a high-profile US Navy project in the Norfolk/Newport News area. You will perform general manual labor, assist welders, and install cables under close supervision on demanding shipyard installations.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, be able to obtain a Secret clearance, pass background/drug screening, and be prepared for second shift with overtime. Travel up to 10% to Norfolk/Chesapeake shipyards is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• Ability to work second shift and willing to work more than 40 hours per week.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to different shipyards in Norfolk and/or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder's helper as well as install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
