Job summary

Serco is seeking Shipyard Laborers to support a high-profile project for the US Navy. The role involves manual labor, fire watch duties, welder helper tasks, and occasional electric cable installation.

Based in the Norfolk, VA and Newport News, VA area, the position requires second shift availability, over 40 hours, and up to 10% travel to shipyards. You must be able to obtain a Secret clearance and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• Ability to work second shift and willing to work more than 40 hours per week.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to different shipyards in Norfolk and/or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder`s helper as well as install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
