Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support planning, management, and execution of multiple commercial construction projects. You will help ensure quality, profitability, and client satisfaction while coordinating with subcontractors and internal teams.

The role requires relocation to project sites nationwide; candidates should be prepared for on-site work and travel as needed. Strong communication, budgeting, and scheduling skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
• Understands construction laws, building codes, and reads blueprints.
• Maintains high ethical standards and adherence to Layton policies.
• Self-starter with ability to allocate resources and manage teams.

Responsibilities

• Champions The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for teams and customers.
• Assists in planning, management, and execution of construction projects to meet quality and profitability.
• Organizes pre-construction planning meetings and coordinates with subcontractors.
• Develops project schedules, milestones, and ensures timely pay requests and collections.
• Manages project cost, procurement, and change orders to protect budget and schedule.
• Mentors project and field engineers and supports ongoing training.
