Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to assist in planning, managing, and executing construction projects. May handle multiple projects, ensuring quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction. You will foster relationships with clients and mentor project personnel.

The role supports pre-construction planning, cost control, scheduling, and closeout activities, with a focus on delivering The Layton Way and Constructing with Integrity across multiple sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication skills by expressing ideas clearly and effectively and strong negotiation skills.
• Understands construction laws and practices; applies building codes and reads blueprints correctly.
• Maintains ethics, conduct, and organizational policies.
• Strong problem solving and ability to plan action and allocate resources.

Responsibilities

• Champions Layton values and delivers predictable outcomes for teams and customers.
• Assists in preparation of estimates, budgets and unit cost reports.
• Organizes and conducts pre-construction planning meetings.
• Negotiates subcontracts and manages change orders impacting schedule and cost.
• Assists in project management planning and execution to meet deadlines.
• Develops schedules and milestones with the Project Superintendent and tracks progress.
