Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to help plan, manage, and execute assigned construction projects across nationwide locations. This on-site role requires relocation to project sites and ongoing coordination with owners, subcontractors, and internal teams.

You will assist with budgets, schedules, subcontracts, quality and safety plans, and project close-out. The role also emphasizes mentoring engineers and maintaining strong owner relationships to ensure profitability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
• Reads blueprints and understands building codes and design requirements.
• Maintains Layton ethics and policies.
• Strong problem solving and collaborative skills.
• Capable of planning actions, allocating resources, and working independently.
• Professional affiliations (e.g., AGC, PE) preferred; basic Spanish for construction preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and pay requests to ensure profitability.
• Coordinate pre-construction planning meetings and subcontractor negotiations.
• Develop project management plans and monitor quality, safety, and risk.
• Oversee submittals, RFIs, and document revisions to avoid delays.
• Mentor project and field engineers and coordinate with project teams.
• Maintain owner relationships and assist with close-out procedures.
