Job summary

The Project Engineer at Layton Construction assists Project Managers to ensure that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements. This on-site role involves close collaboration with the project team to review drawings, manage schedules, and coordinate field activities.

Responsibilities include attending meetings, producing weekly progress reports, updating schedules, and supporting in bidding and scope development for trade contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear writing and organization.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel; ability to read blueprints and schedules.
• Willingness to adapt plans and collaborate with project team.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements and construction procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specs.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and constructability concerns.
• Attend meetings and produce weekly progress reports and notes.
• Update project schedules and assist in bid scope development.
• Coordinate shop drawings, material lists, and testing logistics.
• Support safety compliance and document procedures.
