Base pay range

$214,500.00/yr - $255,500.00/yr

Position Title: National Sales Director (NSD)

The National Sales Director (NSD) is responsible for leading and providing strategic direction for Commercial Sales, including sales strategies, productivity, sales training and effectiveness, and ensuring achievement of performance targets and budgeted sales goals. The NSD manages the field sales force, overseeing Regional Sales Managers and their implementation of processes within local geographies, ensuring compliance and effectiveness. This role reports to the Vice President, Sales, and participates on the Commercial leadership team. It is a remote position from a home-based office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement business plans, budgets, and action plans for the Area and Regions.
  • Maintain effective communication among NSDs and RSMs; monitor performance to meet business potential.
  • Review performance metrics with RSMs to optimize sales results.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient distribution of sales reports and analytics.
  • Lead meetings with the Sales Management Team; develop and inspire the team.
  • Align Sales and Marketing efforts; ensure high standards for business initiatives.
  • Implement marketing plans according to company strategy.
  • Collaborate with leadership and Market Access to maximize reimbursement.
  • Support development and implementation of sales training strategies and programs.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, Analytics, and Market Access.
  • Create and manage regional plans, including messaging, reach, and budgets.
  • Conduct performance reviews and oversee reviews of regional managers.
  • Build relationships with key customers and thought leaders.
  • Travel with RSMs to stay informed on customer needs and address issues.
  • Evaluate account management performance; ensure resource efficiency.
  • Plan for sales force optimization, including territory management.
  • Hire, motivate, and develop sales team members.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and company values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Scientific, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years in sales or marketing leadership within U.S. pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical companies.
  • Experience in launching new products and building sales teams.
  • 5+ years in Cardiology (Statin, PCSK9, NOAC) launch experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare marketplace and industry issues.
  • Strategic thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven success in commercialization and expanding opportunities.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth environment with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Travel up to 70%, including overnight stays.
