Job summary

Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA is seeking a part-time Visitor Services Technician for the VMI Museum System. You will greet visitors, sell merchandise and tour tickets in the museum stores, restock merchandise, and assist with opening/closing tasks and cash reports.

You will provide basic orientation for visitors, follow routine procedures, enforce policies, and maintain a neat appearance. Prior museum experience is a plus but not required; customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail sales or guest services is a plus but not required.
• Basic computer skills and ability to handle money.
• Ability to operate a cash register and count cash.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, sell merchandise and tour tickets in stores.
• Restock merchandise as needed.
• Assist in opening/closing, end of day cash reports, and answering the phone.
• Provide basic orientation for visitors.
• Follow routine procedures and enforce policies.
• Maintain neat, businesslike appearance.
• Demonstrate reliability, maturity, and sound judgment.
• Other duties as directed by the manager.
