Job summary

Birge & Held in Columbus, OH is hiring a Service Technician I to support daily maintenance at multifamily communities. You will perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general facility upkeep while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include completing work orders promptly, keeping residents satisfied, and coordinating with the operations team. The role requires travel between properties and a valid driver’s license; on-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Formal technical training in heating and air conditioning, preferred.
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling, preferred or willingness to obtain.
• HVAC certification, preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for multi-property travel.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards and other environmental safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and common areas to assess cleanliness, safety, and overall property condition.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance of HVAC units, electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, and structural facilities.
• Complete all assigned work orders within 48 hours, unless emergency demands delay.
• Ensure unit turnovers are completed within five working days.
• Provide daily progress updates and coordinate with the operations team.
• Maintain grounds and common areas for safety and curb appeal.
• Participate in after-hours maintenance on-call rotation.
