Job summary

Birge & Held is seeking a Service Technician II to maintain the community assets, perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and grounds upkeep, and ensure timely completion of service requests. The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires collaboration with residents, vendors, and a maintenance team.

The ideal candidate has at least two years in apartment maintenance, EPA refrigerant certification, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated success in apartment maintenance or related field.
• EPA certification required for refrigerant handling, or willingness to obtain.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• For travel between properties, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
• Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work with residents, team members, and vendors.
• Provide your own hand tools including power drills, impacts, and other hand tools.
• Experience in residential property maintenance is beneficial.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain overall maintenance, functionality, and appearance of the community assets.
• Inspect buildings and common areas for safety and visual appeal; perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical repairs.
• Complete work orders promptly and coordinate with operations staff; aim for 48‑hour WO completion and 7‑day unit turns.
• Maintain grounds and assist other Birge & Held assets to meet company goals.
• Submit required reports and participate in on‑call maintenance duties.
