Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Scheduler to support our Arlington, Dallas, and Irving locations. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday, 8:30am–5pm, with no weekends or holidays.

Role may be classified at Level 2 or Sr based on experience, and involves coordinating patient appointments, tests, and referrals in an efficient EMR-driven workflow while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required (or equivalent).
• Minimum three years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling, and/or authorization experience preferred.
• Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls; directs calls to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules new patients, referrals, and returning patients in the computer system in accordance with physician/office guidelines.
• Obtains and enters all insurance authorization and referrals in patients' charts/EMR.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket amounts at time of visit.
• Maintains scheduling templates including physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
• Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
• Demonstrates understanding of patient confidentiality and protects patient data.
• Covers for other front office functions as requested.
• May schedule outpatient appointments/tests/surgeries and hospital admissions; obtain pre-certification as required.
• Communicate with patients about surgeries/tests and prep work; gather patient information as needed.
• Follow up on pre-operative tests to ensure clearance for surgery.
