Job summary

Diversified Maintenance is seeking a Janitorial Area Manager to oversee cleaning operations across multiple customer locations in the Indianapolis area. You will lead janitorial teams, manage staffing and scheduling, and ensure service quality.

This hands-on leadership role requires visiting sites, solving problems, building strong customer relations, and maintaining safety standards while growing account value.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in a service-related industry, preferably janitorial industry.
• Business level oral and written communication skills; ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing environments.
• Excellent customer service skills; active listening skills.
• Ability to lead and encourage teamwork; ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.

Responsibilities

• Oversee janitorial operations and employees across multiple customer locations
• Recruit, hire, train, coach and develop janitorial team members
• Visit assigned customer sites regularly to ensure service and quality standards are being met
• Build relationships with customers and quickly resolve service concerns
• Manage employee schedules and staffing while maintaining established labor budgets
• Conduct quality-control inspections and ensure required site visits are completed
• Lead new-hire orientation, safety training and ongoing job training
• Review employee performance and create development or improvement plans as needed
• Identify opportunities for additional services within assigned customer accounts
• Maintain required operational documentation, including time sheets, training records, work orders, incident reports and supply/equipment order
