Job summary

Brown & Root is seeking a qualified welder to join our industrial services team. The role involves certifying multi-process welding proficiency (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW) and reading blueprints to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, vessels and pipes.

Candidate will lay out, align, fit, and weld components, operate different welding processes, ensure weld quality, and follow safety and project rules. Physical requirements and protective equipment use are expected.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in welding.
• Knowledge of welding standards, safety practices and metallurgy.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly and welding using knowledge of geometry and metal properties.
• May use various welding processes including GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, flux-core and SA welding.
• Lays out and fits components, bolts, clamps and welds pieces for piping, frames and shells.
• Connects welding units, prepares electrodes and starts power supply as required.
• Guides electrode or gun to form proper fusion and bead with correct speed and depth.
• Repairs, cleans or degreases weld joints and performs maintenance on tools.
