Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services in the United States seeks a skilled welder capable of certifying on multi‑process pipe, proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW, with potential x‑ray qualification.

You will lay out, align and weld fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structures like machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells and piping according to blueprints and metallurgy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with welding experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and metallurgy concepts.
• Knowledge of geometry, metal properties and welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Select pipe or materials according to specifications.
• Plan layouts and welding procedures based on geometry and metallurgy.
• Perform welding with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and other processes as required.
• Lay out, position, align and fit components for piping and structures.
• Weld components in various positions and tack weld assemblies when needed.
• Connect welding equipment to achieve specified amperage and voltage.
• Deposit weld metal to achieve desired fusion and bead shape.
• Clean and degrease weld joints and prepare surfaces.
• Inspect welds for bead size and conformance to specs.
• Move, load and unload materials and tools; assist as needed.
• Adhere to safety rules and project requirements.
