Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services seeks a skilled welder capable of certifying on multi-process pipe welding and proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW. The role involves reading blueprints, laying out, aligning, and welding fabricated components to assemble structures such as machinery frames, tanks, piping systems and pressure vessels.

Ideal candidates will select welding types, set up equipment, and perform welds in various positions with strict attention to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Capable of certifying on multi-process pipe welding (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW).
• Knowledge of geometry and metallurgy as applied to welding.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret weld procedures.
• Safety training and adherence to project rules.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials per specifications.
• Plans layouts and welding, applying knowledge of welding techniques.
• Uses various welding processes as required.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components for welding.
• Welds metal components in multiple positions and may perform tack welding.
• Connects electrode to welding unit and adjusts amperage/voltage as specified.
• Runs arcs and deposits weld metal following procedures.
• Maintains welding quality, cleans welds and repairs as needed.
• Performs routine maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Adheres to safety rules and project requirements.
