Job summary

Cart.com in the United States is seeking a detail‑oriented Merchant of Record Accountant to own MoR accounting operations across our brands, ensuring payment processing integrity, settlements, tax compliance, and strong financial controls in a fast growth environment. The role requires 3–7 years in payments/finance, advanced Excel, and ERP familiarity (NetSuite or Dynamics 365).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in payments operations, merchant services, or related finance roles.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, and financial controls.
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of SQL.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across supported brands.
• Review, validate, and approve high-value transactions and settlements in accordance with established approval thresholds and internal controls.
• Monitor and resolve urgent payment exceptions, including settlement failures, payment holds, chargebacks, and significant refunds.
• Maintain rigorous transaction-level review processes to minimize errors, prevent revenue leakage, and ensure financial accuracy.
• Serve as the primary liaison for payment processing, settlements, reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial reporting related to MoR operations.
