Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Process Engineer to manage injection stretch blow mold samplings, qualification services, and validation for new/rebuilt molds. You will partner with plant technical teams to support startups, process improvements, and tooling changes to meet dimensional and visual specs.

You will document best practices, lead DOE studies, and maintain comprehensive process data while mentoring technicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to understand, influence, drive and negotiate with internal and external customers.
• Strong management, communication and people skills required to influence and manage multiple resources, most of which do not report to the process engineer.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Minimum of five years’ processing experience in the plastics packaging industry desired.
• Experience with SPC is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of mold samplings & qualification services on new, replacement or rebuilt tools.
• Optimize the molding process to meet dimensional limits at the designed cycle time or less.
• Create and maintain standardized Master Process Sheets for defined injection or blow molding process.
• Attend new project meetings, design reviews and tool specification meetings as required.
• Train plant personnel in technical areas including machine processing and tool design changes.
• Provide Manufacturing Support to solve production issues related to machine, process, tooling/design or combinations.
• Support plants with equipment, process, capability studies and tooling qualifications/validations as needed.
• Perform and establish the tools and equipment qualification approvals at vendor locations.
• Establish and maintain data resource information related to packaging, machinery and processes.
• Facilitate, document and communicate best practices across facilities.
• Design of Experiments (DOE) and R&D process capability studies to ensure standards compliance.
• Create and maintain Master Process of Adjustments (POA’s) for process and packaging lines baseline settings.
• Develop organizational technical capabilities through training and mentoring.
