Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a dedicated laboratory technician to perform specimen processing and accessioning in the Main Lab, collect blood samples, and review reports for quality control. You will prepare specimens for testing and ensure proper packaging for outside lab dispatch according to written protocols.

This is a full-time, on-site role within a leading academic health system. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a California phlebotomy license are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
• Must provide proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Employment contingent upon completion of satisfactory background investigation.
• Current State of California Driver's License
• Access to reliable, personal transportation to commute to offsite locations
• Ability to pass EKG competency test
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing and accessioning in the Central Processing area of the Main Lab
• Perform various types of blood specimen collection
• Review lab reports and perform quality review and troubleshooting
• Prepare specimens for testing and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols
