Job summary

UCI Health in Orange, CA is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join the Referral Lab team. You will perform specimen collection, processing, accessioning, and assist in drug test monitoring, follow­ing written protocols to ensure accurate dispatch to outside labs.

You will review lab reports, participate in quality reviews and troubleshooting, and contribute to excellent client services within the health system. Prior phlebotomy experience and CA license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I).
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Referral Lab.
• Performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy, and drug test monitoring.
• Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting.
• Serves as member of laboratory client services team.
• May prepare specimens for testing, accessioning and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.
