Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform specimen processing, accessioning, and blood specimen collection in the Main Lab. You will review lab reports, ensure quality, and prepare specimens for testing or dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.

Candidates must have technical lab knowledge, strong communication skills, and a valid California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I). Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance proof are required.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
• Must provide proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy.
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.

• Perform specimen processing and accessioning in the Central Processing area.
• Perform various types of blood specimen collection.
• Review lab reports and perform quality review and troubleshooting.
