Job summary

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
• Proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy.
• Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Background check and DMV pull notice requirements.
• Current California Driver's License.
• Access to reliable transportation for offsite locations.
• Ability to pass EKG competency test.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Central Processing area of the Main Lab.
• Performs various types of blood specimen collection.
• Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting.
• Prepares specimens for testing, accessioning and packaging for dispatch to outside labs per written protocols.
