Job summary

UCI Health is recruiting for a Phlebotomy Technician I to join the Main Lab team in Orange. The role involves specimen processing, accessioning, and blood collection across multiple sites, with emphasis on quality review and troubleshooting.

California licensure is required, along with proof of vehicle insurance and reliable transportation. The job demands strong communication, customer service skills, and the ability to work within UC policies and safety guidelines while supporting patient care

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes gained through education, experience or a combination of the two.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
• Must provide proof of vehicle insurance in compliance with UC policy
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Central Processing area of the Main Lab.
• Performs various types of blood specimen collection.
• Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur.
• May prepare specimens for testing, accessioning and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.
