Job summary

UC Irvine Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join the Main Lab team. You will perform specimen processing, accessioning, and blood collection, ensuring accuracy in lab reports and timely dispatch of specimens to outside labs.

Qualified candidates will hold a California Phlebotomy license (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I), pass an EKG competency test, and demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills in a fast-paced health system.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I) required.
• Ability to pass EKG competency test.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Central Processing area of the Main Lab.
• Performs various types of blood specimen collection.
• Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur.
• May prepare specimens for testing, accessioning and packaging for dispatch to outside labs according to written protocols.
