Job summary

Cox Fleet seeks a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician to perform DOT inspections, PMs, and light to heavy repairs in a mobile/field setting. Strong diagnostic and manual skills are required to service trucks and trailers while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes independent daily scheduling, parts procurement, and accurate documentation using TRAIT on iOS, with formal DOT and ASE certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ related experience; or 5 years’ related field experience.
• ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months is preferred.
• DOT/FMCSA compliance and pre-employment background/DOT physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light to heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field environment.
• Carry out minor repairs on electrical, brake, cooling, engine and transmission systems.
• Inspect and diagnose trailer equipment, including brakes, air lines, liftgates and welding/fabrication as needed.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Manage parts inventory and service truck setup; document RO findings and parts used in TRAIT app.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
