Job summary

Rush Truck Centers seeks a Mobile Diesel Mechanic to maintain our fleet and service customers at client locations. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines, read manuals, and document work performed in our systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 9 years of Class 7 & 8 technician experience, and a valid CDL with medical card. We offer a comprehensive total rewards package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 9 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Have a current and valid CDL and Medical card as required by the FMVS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Read job orders, observe vehicles in operation, and plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to perform repairs.
• Diagnose, remove, and replace injectors, pistons, and other major components.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
• Inspect guards, bolts, and safety devices and make adjustments.
• Lubricate parts and verify conformance to specifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document and submit paperwork or enter into mobile service program promptly.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customer of repairs or services for the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
