Job summary

Rush Truck Centers, a leading network in the commercial vehicle industry, is seeking a Mobile Service Diesel Mechanic to service client fleets at their locations. The role emphasizes on-site diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to keep trucks and equipment on the road.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 5 years of Class 7 & 8 experience, and ASE certifications are preferred. CDL is a plus; FMVSS medical card is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVSS.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins & ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented as assigned.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and keep the vehicle properly stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned duties daily.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and an open work schedule.
• Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to determine malfunction and plan procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and perform correct repair procedures.
• Diagnosis and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, brakes, and transmissions.
• Document and submit paperwork or enter into mobile service program accurately and timely.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive customer relations.
