Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support customers by traveling to client locations for on-site maintenance and repair of diesel trucks.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing engines, managing service-truck inventory, using diagnostic tools, and coordinating with the Service Manager. CDL is preferred but not required; 5 years of Class 7/8 experience and ASE certifications are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, oil checks, cleanliness, and inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for the vehicle.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required.
• Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to plan procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform correct repairs.
• Diagnose and replace components (injectors, pistons, bearings, etc.).
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
• Check safety devices and adjust as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify conformance to specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Submit paperwork accurately and timely.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster relations.
• Advise on repairs to be performed within 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
