Job summary

Cox Fleet By Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on light to heavy‑duty trucks in a mobile setting. You will diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, diesel, and mechanical systems, road-test vehicles, and manage parts in a service truck.

The role requires HS diploma or GED, ASE T8 certification within 18 months, and a valid DOT card or equivalent.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; different combinations possible with related experience
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification due within 18 months of hire
• DOT medical card required or within grace period; DOT pre‑employment screening and physical may be required

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM, DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light to heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field environment
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electrical/breaking/cooling systems and engine components
• Diagnose, test and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical systems on trucks
• Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using hand tools and diagnostic devices
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and proper operation
• Manage parts inventory and service truck supplies; track RO information in TRAIT app
• Maintain service truck and perform pre/post-trip inspections
• Communicate with customers to assess needs and provide project updates
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and customer expectations
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and on time
• Work independently with minimal supervision and follow safety regulations
• Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed for repairs
