Cox Fleet, headquartered in Indianapolis, specializes in mobile on-site fleet maintenance for light to heavy-duty vehicles. We are hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, PMs, light repairs, and diagnostics in a field/mobile setting.

The role emphasizes independent scheduling, safety compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT), and effective client communication to meet performance metrics. Training continues under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 3 years' related field experience, or 5 years' related field experience.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within eighteen months.
• DOT background screening and DOT physical must be passed prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license and being at least 21 years old are required.
• DOT medical card may be substituted if valid; otherwise a DOT physical is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM and DOT inspections on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electrical/braking/cooling systems, starters/alternators, and related components.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, air conditioning, engines, transmissions, and other systems.
• Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using tools and handheld devices.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Independently manage parts inventory on the service truck and reconcile periodically.
• Document findings and RO details using iOS device and TRAIT app; upload photos as needed.
• Complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion.
• Maintain safety checks and perform daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Collaborate with management to obtain approvals on estimates and purchase orders.
