Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a mobile/field fleet. You’ll work independently, manage a service truck, and communicate with clients to meet their needs while delivering high-quality workmanship.

You’ll be part of a nationwide organization with 24/7/365 coordination, benefiting from company-issued equipment and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 3 years’ related experience (or 5 years in related field).
• Own a set of hand tools to perform required duties.
• ASE certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen months.
• DOT background screening and DOT physical required prior to employment.
• Must be 21+ with valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, engines and transmissions.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and identify malfunctions.
• Document findings on Repair Orders using TRAIT app and upload photos.
• Maintain service truck and conduct pre-/post-trip safety inspections.
