Job summary

Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician II (DOT management level). This role performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a range of truck equipment in a mobile/field setting. You will diagnose, test, and repair systems, road-test vehicles, and manage parts while maintaining safety and DOT documentation.

Must have a HS diploma/GED with 3+ years of related experience (or 5 years). ASE T8 cert within 18 months; valid DOT medical card and driver license required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years’ related experience, or 5 years in related field.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools required for duties.
• ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• DOT/FMCSA regulatory compliance knowledge.
• DOT medical card and pre-employment screening required.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and repairs on light–heavy vehicles in mobile/field settings.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine, and drivetrain systems.
• Road-test vehicles to verify repairs and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain service vehicle and inventory; document RO with photos on mobile TRAIT app.
• Ensure safety compliance and proper documentation (DOT forms).
