Job summary

Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician I for DOT inspections, PMs, and light repairs in a mobile/field environment. You’ll work with light to heavy-duty vehicles and support from a service truck, with training provided to advance to higher levels.

You’ll need a High School Diploma or GED, your own hand tools, and welding experience. DOT compliance and a valid CDL-related status are required, with benefits and weekly pay included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and up to 2 years in related fields.
• Own a set of hand tools needed for job duties.
• At least 1 year welding experience; OEM training preferred; complete internal training.
• Comply with DOT/FMCSA regulations relevant to the role.
• Pass a DOT pre-employment background screen and DOT physical.
• DOT medical card valid or a DOT physical required if near expiration.
• Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver’s license; able to obtain DQF.
• Valid driving record and state license; ability to obtain/maintain DQF.

Responsibilities

• Perform PMs, DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on vehicles in field/mobile settings.
• Do minor adjustments/repairs on electrical, braking, cooling and engine systems.
• Independently manage parts inventory and the service vehicle; conduct safety checks.
• Communicate with customers to assess needs and provide clear information.
• Prioritize tasks and manage daily schedule with limited supervision.
• Use diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks; document RO details in TRAIT.
