This position is responsible for visiting long term care facilities and assisting patients and physicians with dental care. Main duties include maintaining clinical records and charts through electronic medical records and care and cleaning of medical equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist doctor with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.

- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean up the service area used by the facility.
- Assist with patient transportation.

- Possess a strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time.
- Support and comply with all aspects of the compliance program, including training and reporting suspected violations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information, adhering to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review, verify, and maintain clinical records, charts, and medical history in electronic medical records.
- Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
- Update patient odontogram for each encounter.
- Supply instruments to the dentist efficiently for appropriate care.
- Maintain the treatment area by evacuating, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating properly.
- Provide daily feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow during facility visits and assist with wheelchair transport if needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities as required.
- Balance and generate daily production reports and deliver to the dentist.
- Post dental charges accurately and timely to the appropriate provider.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them to the proper resources.
- Maintain and schedule planned maintenance for dental equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior, perform routine support tasks like oil changes and refueling.
- Manage dental supplies inventory by auditing stock, anticipating needs, and placing orders.
- Prepare supplies efficiently to minimize waste and duplication.
- Ensure all dental equipment functions properly through preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
- Provide timely responses to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Work remotely with a reliable high-speed internet connection; report any service interruptions immediately.
- Maintain a good driving record, auto insurance, and be in good standing for motor vehicle reports.
- React positively to change and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Own reliable transportation, maintain a good driving record, and have auto insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- Possess a state radiation license or certificate.
- Good computer skills and experience with medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patient and doctor needs.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to stand, walk, push, and stoop periodically, with lifting requirements up to 50 pounds or more in dental settings. Must be able to push patients in wheelchairs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required. Ability to work under stress and irregular hours, with exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
