This position involves visiting long-term care facilities to assist patients and physicians with dental care. Key duties include maintaining clinical records via electronic medical records, and caring for and cleaning medical equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the doctor with patient care promptly and courteously.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and charts electronically.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean the service area after use.
- Assist with patient transportation.

- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document interactions in EMR.

- Support and comply with all aspects of the compliance program, including training and reporting violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Verify and update clinical records, charts, and medical histories.
- Ensure the integrity of documentation.
- Update patient odontograms after each encounter.
- Supply instruments efficiently to the dentist.
- Maintain the treatment area properly, including evacuating, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating.
- Provide feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow and assist with wheelchair transport if needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities.
- Balance and generate daily production reports for the dentist.
- Post dental charges accurately and timely.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them appropriately.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's appearance and perform basic support tasks like oil changes and refueling.
- Manage dental supplies inventory, audit stock, and place orders as needed.
- Prepare supplies efficiently, minimizing waste.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly through preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a good driving record and valid auto insurance.
- Adapt positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Medical/Dental Assistant experience.
- Reliable transportation, good driving record, and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step TB Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations preferred.
- State radiation license or certification.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patient and doctor needs.
Physical Demands:
Full body motion including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Standing, walking, pushing, and stooping regularly. Lifting requirements vary, with dental roles requiring lifting of 50 pounds or more. Ability to push patients in wheelchairs. Corrected vision and hearing are necessary. Work may involve stressful conditions, irregular hours, and exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
