This position involves visiting long-term care facilities and assisting patients and physicians with dental care. Key duties include maintaining clinical records, cleaning medical equipment, and supporting patient care.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the doctor with patient care promptly and courteously.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and charts via electronic medical records.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean the service area used in the facility.
- Assist with patient transportation.

- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.

- Support and comply with all aspects of the compliance program, including training and reporting violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review, verify, and update clinical records and medical histories in electronic records.
- Update patient odontograms for each encounter.
- Supply instruments efficiently to the dentist.
- Maintain the treatment area by evacuating, washing, drying, and illuminating properly.
- Provide daily feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize schedules and reporting.
- Manage patient flow and assist with wheelchair transport if needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities as required.
- Generate and balance daily production reports for the dentist.
- Post dental charges accurately and promptly.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them appropriately.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's appearance and perform basic support tasks like oil changes and refueling.
- Manage dental supplies inventory, audit stock, and place orders to minimize waste.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly by following manufacturer instructions and performing preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable high-speed internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a good driving record, auto insurance, and valid driver's license.
- React positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Own reliable transportation, a good driving record, and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- Possess a state radiation license or certificate.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patients and doctors' needs.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, standing, walking, pushing, and stooping. Frequently lift 50 pounds or more, push patients in wheelchairs, and work under stressful or irregular hours. Must have corrected vision and hearing, and exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids is possible.
