This position involves visiting long-term care facilities and assisting patients and physicians with dental care. Key responsibilities include maintaining clinical records, caring for medical equipment, and supporting patient transportation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the doctor with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and charts via electronic medical records.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean and maintain the service area used by the facility.
- Assist with patient transportation.
- Multitask effectively, demonstrate attention to detail, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Possess strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time.
- Support and comply with all aspects of the compliance program, including training and reporting suspected violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review, verify, and keep clinical records, charts, and medical histories current and accurate.
- Update patient odontograms for each encounter.
- Supply instruments to the dentist efficiently for appropriate care.
- Maintain the treatment area by properly evacuating, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating.
- Provide daily feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow and assist with wheelchair transfers if needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities as required.
- Balance and generate daily production reports for the dentist.
- Post dental charges accurately and timely.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them accordingly.
- Maintain and schedule preventive maintenance for dental equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior, perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Manage dental supplies inventory by auditing stock and placing orders as needed.
- Prepare supplies efficiently, minimizing waste.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly through preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a good driving record and valid auto insurance.
- React positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Own reliable transportation, have a good driving record, and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- Possess a state radiation license or certificate.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patient and doctor needs.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, standing, walking, pushing, and stooping periodically. Lifting requirements vary, with a minimum of 50 pounds in dental roles. Ability to push patients in wheelchairs, corrected vision and hearing, working under stress or irregular hours, and exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids are also required.
