This position involves visiting long-term care facilities to assist patients and physicians with dental care. Key responsibilities include maintaining clinical records via electronic medical records, and caring for and cleaning medical equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist doctors with patient care promptly and courteously.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and charts through electronic medical records.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean and organize the service area and facility.
- Assist with patient transportation.
- Multitask effectively, pay attention to detail, and provide excellent customer service.
- Have strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time as required.
- Support compliance programs, including training and reporting violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Verify and update clinical records, charts, and medical histories.
- Update patient odontograms after encounters.
- Supply instruments to the dentist efficiently.
- Maintain the treatment area, including evacuating, washing, and drying.
- Provide feedback to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow, including pushing patients in wheelchairs and making in-room visits.
- Generate and balance daily production reports and post dental charges accurately.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them appropriately.
- Perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
- Maintain dental supplies inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly and complete preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a clean vehicle and perform basic vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure all dental equipment is operational and properly maintained.
- Follow safety protocols and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Reliable transportation, a good driving record, and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step TB skin test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- State radiation license or certification.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patients and doctors.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, standing, walking, pushing, and stooping. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, push patients in wheelchairs, and work under stress or irregular hours. Some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Corrected vision and hearing required.
