Job description

This position involves visiting long-term care facilities to assist patients and physicians with dental care. Key responsibilities include maintaining clinical records, managing medical equipment, and supporting patient care activities.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assist the dentist with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
2. Perform pretesting duties and maintain accurate clinical records via electronic medical records (EMR).
3. Ensure proper care and sanitation of medical equipment and the treatment area.
4. Assist with patient transportation and manage patient flow efficiently.
5. Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and staff, ensuring a positive experience and timely responses to inquiries.
6. Travel up to 100% of the time as required.
7. Support compliance with all legal and company policies, including HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
8. Update patient odontograms and supply instruments to the dentist as needed.
9. Maintain dental equipment through routine preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
10. Manage dental supplies inventory and order supplies to prevent shortages.
11. Expose and process digital dental radiographs and educate patients on oral hygiene.
12. Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and secure.
13. Maintain vehicle appearance and perform basic support tasks like oil changes and refueling.
14. Work remotely with a reliable internet connection, reporting any service interruptions immediately.
15. Possess a valid auto insurance policy and a good driving record.
16. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and positive attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
• Reliable transportation, good driving record, and auto insurance.
• Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
• Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
• State radiation license or certification required.
• Proficiency in computer skills and medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to follow directions.

Physical Demands:

Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to stand, walk, push, and occasionally lift 50 pounds or more, including assisting patients in wheelchairs. Corrected vision and hearing are necessary. Must work under stressful conditions and potentially irregular hours, with exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
