This position involves visiting long-term care facilities to assist patients and physicians with dental care. Main duties include maintaining clinical records, managing medical equipment, and supporting patient care activities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the doctor with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and charts through electronic medical records.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean the service area used by the facility.
- Assist with patient transportation.
- Multitask effectively, pay attention to detail, and provide excellent customer service.
- Possess strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time.
- Support and comply with all components of the compliance program, including training and reporting violations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information, adhering to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review, verify, and maintain current clinical records and medical history via electronic records.
- Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
- Update patient odontograms for each encounter.
- Supply instruments efficiently to the dentist.
- Maintain the treatment area, including evacuation, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating.
- Provide daily feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow and assist with wheelchair transportation as needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities if required.
- Balance and generate daily production reports for the dentist.
- Post dental charges accurately and timely.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them appropriately.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior, perform routine support tasks.
- Manage dental supplies inventory, audit stock, and place orders.
- Prepare supplies efficiently to minimize waste.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly through preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a good driving record, valid auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- React positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Own reliable transportation with a good driving record and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- Possess a state radiation license or certificate.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patient and doctor needs.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to stand, walk, push, and stoop periodically. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more, push patients in wheelchairs, and work under stressful or irregular hours. Corrected vision and hearing are required, along with exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
