This position involves visiting long-term care facilities to assist patients and physicians with dental care. Key responsibilities include maintaining clinical records, managing medical equipment, and providing patient support.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the doctor with patient care promptly and courteously.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records through electronic medical records.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean and maintain the service area.
- Assist with patient transportation.
- Multitask effectively, paying attention to detail and providing excellent customer service.
- Possess strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time as required.
- Support and comply with all aspects of the compliance program, including training and reporting violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review and verify clinical records and medical history regularly.
- Update patient odontograms for each encounter.
- Supply instruments to the dentist efficiently.
- Maintain the treatment area, including evacuating, washing, and drying equipment.
- Provide feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize schedules and reporting.
- Manage patient flow and assist with wheelchair transportation if needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities as scheduled.
- Generate and balance daily production reports and post dental charges accurately.
- Troubleshoot and report equipment issues.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic support tasks like oil changes and refueling.
- Manage dental supplies inventory and place orders to minimize waste.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly, following manufacturer instructions.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a valid driver's license, good driving record, and auto insurance.
- React positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical or Dental Assistant preferred.
- Reliable transportation, good driving record, and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step TB skin test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- State radiation license or certification.
- Proficiency in computer skills and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patient and doctor needs.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to stand, walk, push, and stoop regularly. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, push patients in wheelchairs, and work under stressful or irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids is possible.
