This position is responsible for visiting long-term care facilities and assisting physicians with dental care. Main duties include maintaining clinical records and charts through electronic medical records, as well as care and cleaning of medical equipment.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assist doctor with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
  2. Review, verify, and maintain current and accurate clinical records, charts, and medical history through electronic medical records.
  3. Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
  4. Update patient odontogram for every patient encounter.
  5. Pass instruments and supplies to the dentist efficiently for appropriate care.
  6. Maintain the treatment area by evacuation, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating properly.
  7. Provide daily feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
  8. Manage patient flow during facility visits and assist with wheelchair pushing if needed.
  9. Balance and generate daily production reports and provide them to the dentist upon departure.
  10. Post dental charges accurately and timely to the appropriate provider.
  11. Care for and clean medical equipment; troubleshoot issues and report to appropriate resources.
  12. Maintain and schedule planned maintenance for dental equipment.
  13. Clean up of the service area used in the facility.
  14. Inspect and maintain vehicle appearance and perform basic support tasks like oil changes, refueling, and changing brake lights.
  15. Manage dental supplies inventory by auditing stock, anticipating needs, and expediting orders.
  16. Prepare supplies efficiently to minimize waste and duplication.
  17. Ensure dental equipment functions properly through preventive maintenance per manufacturer instructions.
  18. Assist in diagnosis by exposing and processing digital dental radiographs.
  19. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
  20. Multitask, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  21. Possess strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
  22. Create a positive patient experience.
  23. Follow OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
  24. Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
  25. Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in EMR.
  26. Travel up to 100% of the time as required.
  27. Support and comply with all components of the compliance program, including training and reporting violations.
  28. React positively to change and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Medical/Dental Assistant experience preferred.
  • Own reliable transportation, good driving record, and insurance.
  • Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.
  • State radiation license or certificate required.
  • Good computer skills and medical terminology experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow directions and listen to patients’ and doctors’ needs.
Physical Demands

Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, standing, walking, pushing, and stooping periodically. Lifting of 50 pounds or more may be required. Ability to push patients in a wheelchair. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Ability to work under stress or irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
