This position is responsible for visiting long term care facilities and assisting patients and physicians with dental care. Main duties include maintaining clinical records and charts through electronic medical records and care and cleaning of medical equipment.
Essential Job Functions:

- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean up the service area used by the facility.
- Assist with patient transportation.

- Have a strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive experience for patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document conversations in the EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time.
- Support and comply with all components of the compliance program, including training and reporting suspected violations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information, adhering to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review, verify, and maintain accurate clinical records and medical history via electronic records.
- Ensure the integrity of all documentation.
- Update the patient odontogram for each encounter.
- Supply instruments to the dentist efficiently for appropriate care.
- Maintain the treatment area by evacuating, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating properly.
- Provide daily feedback and collaborate with the branch office to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow during facility visits and assist patients in wheelchairs if needed.
- Make in-room visits at assigned facilities as required.
- Balance and generate daily production reports and provide them to the dentist.
- Post dental charges accurately and timely to the appropriate provider.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report to appropriate resources.
- Maintain and schedule planned maintenance for dental equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior, perform routine support tasks like oil changes, refueling, and changing brake lights.
- Manage dental supplies inventory by auditing stock, anticipating needs, and placing orders.
- Prepare supplies efficiently to minimize waste and duplication.
- Ensure all dental equipment functions properly through preventive maintenance and following manufacturer instructions.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
- Work remotely with a reliable high-speed internet connection and report any service interruptions.
- Maintain a good driving record and valid auto insurance for vehicle responsibilities.
- React positively to change and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Reliable transportation, good driving record, and insurance.
- Completion and passing of a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- State radiation license or certification.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patients and doctors' needs.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, standing, walking, pushing, and stooping periodically. Frequent lifting of 50 pounds or more, especially in dental settings. Ability to push patients in wheelchairs, corrected vision and hearing, and ability to work under stress or irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids is possible.
