This position involves visiting long-term care facilities to assist patients and physicians with dental care. Key responsibilities include maintaining electronic medical records, cleaning medical equipment, assisting with patient transportation, and supporting dental procedures. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. Travel up to 100% is expected.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the dentist with patient care promptly and courteously.
- Perform pretesting duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and charts via electronic medical records.
- Care for and clean medical equipment.
- Clean and maintain the service area.
- Assist with patient transportation.
- Manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and provide excellent customer service.
- Have a strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, and staff.
- Respond to patient inquiries promptly and document conversations in EMR.
- Travel up to 100% of the time.
- Support compliance efforts, including training and reporting violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Review, verify, and update clinical records and medical history.
- Update patient odontograms after each encounter.
- Supply instruments to the dentist efficiently.
- Maintain the treatment area, including evacuation, washing, drying, and lighting.
- Collaborate with the branch office to optimize schedules and reporting.
- Manage patient flow and assist with wheelchair transport if needed.
- Conduct in-room visits at assigned facilities.
- Generate and review daily production reports and post dental charges accurately.
- Troubleshoot and report equipment issues.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
- Maintain the vehicle's appearance and perform basic support tasks like oil changes and refueling.
- Manage dental supplies inventory and place orders as needed.
- Ensure dental equipment functions properly and complete preventive maintenance.
- Expose and process digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene.
- Work remotely with a reliable internet connection and report service issues immediately.
- Maintain a good driving record, valid auto insurance, and good standing in motor vehicle reports.
- Adapt positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a Medical/Dental Assistant preferred.
- Own reliable transportation with a good driving record and insurance.
- Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
- Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations are preferred.
- Possess a state radiation license or certificate.
- Good computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and listen to patients and doctors.
Physical Demands:
Requires full body motion, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to stand, walk, push, and stoop regularly. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, push patients in wheelchairs, and work under stressful or irregular hours. Vision and hearing must be within normal range. Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids is possible.
