Job summary

Meijer is seeking a store leadership role to plan, direct and supervise team members across departments, coaching as mentor and implementing strategies to improve customer service and store sales while meeting company standards. You will staff, hire and develop talent, manage performance, and ensure training is completed.

The role emphasizes a safe work environment, reliable attendance, and delivering exceptional service to customers throughout busy hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Provide career paths and identify development needs for team members; involve in promotion decisions.
• Document disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Mentor team members to exceed sales goals and uphold Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs.
• Spend majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promotes a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
