Job summary

Meijer is seeking a capable store leadership professional to plan, supervise, and coach a diverse team across multiple departments. You will lead staffing, development, and promotions while driving sales and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail environment.

The role emphasizes mentoring teams, maintaining Meijer standards, and ensuring training compliance, with a strong focus on safety and reliability in daily store operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions; ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day operations across store departments.
• Mentor and coach team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and store sales.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Promote succession planning and development for team members; participate in promotion decisions.
• Handle P&L, sales goals and shrink reduction for the department.
• Maintain a positive customer service image and ensure quick, friendly service.
• Provide Meijer Friendly Initiative in all meetings and conversations.
• Ensure team training completion and ongoing development.
• Spend most time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Maintain a safe work environment and reliable attendance; perform other duties as assigned.
