Job summary

Summer Consultants, Inc. seeks Mechanical Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 in the United States.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, in renovating and modernizing federal, institutional, and historic facilities. You will work alongside experienced engineers, perform surveys, calculations, equipment selection, and create layouts and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with 2+ years completed in relevant HVAC/building systems.
• Interest in HVAC and building systems and field experience.
• Willingness to spend meaningful time in the field.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical and plumbing design on renovation and existing-building projects.
• Participate in field surveys to observe and document conditions.
• Assist with HVAC and plumbing calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping layouts.
• Translate survey information into project drawings and design documentation.
• Use Revit and AutoCAD to support project work.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers from other disciplines.
• Ask questions, apply feedback, take on increasing responsibility.
