Job summary

Summer Consultants, Inc. is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 to explore how classroom concepts become real designs in buildings.

You will work on renovated and modernized systems in federal, institutional, and historic facilities, gaining hands-on experience in surveys, calculations, equipment selection, layouts, and drawings. Ideal candidates are engineering students interested in building systems, with a willingness to spend significant time in the field and learn from

Qualifications

• Two years toward Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering (HVAC focus), Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Interest in HVAC, building systems, and renovation projects.
• Willingness to spend meaningful time in the field surveying existing conditions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; AutoCAD and Revit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical and plumbing design on renovation and existing-building projects.
• Participate in field surveys to observe and document conditions.
• Assist with HVAC and plumbing calculations, equipment selection, layouts, and related design activities.
• Translate survey information into project drawings and design documentation.
• Use Revit and AutoCAD to support project work.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers from other disciplines.
• Ask questions, apply feedback, and take on increasing responsibility.
