Job summary

Summer Consultants Inc. seeks motivated engineering students for Mechanical Engineering Intern roles in Summer 2027. You will work on renovation and existing-building projects, supporting HVAC and plumbing design, field surveys, equipment selection, layouts, and documentation with guidance from experienced engineers.

Field surveys connect theory to practice as you observe conditions, learn how systems operate, and translate findings into practical design decisions using Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Two years of undergrad study toward HVAC/ME degree.
• Genuine interest in HVAC, plumbing, building systems, and renovation.
• Curiosity about how buildings are constructed, operated, and modified.
• Willingness to spend meaningful time in the field surveying existing conditions.
• Ability to learn from experienced engineers, ask questions, and apply feedback.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong MS Word and Excel skills.
• AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain site access at client locations, including federal facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical and plumbing design on renovation and existing-building projects.
• Participate in field surveys to observe and document existing conditions and systems.
• Assist with HVAC and plumbing calculations, equipment selection, layouts, and related design activities.
• Translate survey information and constraints into project drawings and design documentation.
• Use Revit and AutoCAD to support project work and deliverables.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers from other disciplines.
• Take on increasing responsibility as skills develop and contribute to client solutions.
